Two days after Aam Aadmi party Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas entered Betalbatim to take up cudgels for the farmers affected by sea water, former Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco said the AAP MLA should take care of Benaulim constituency, including the iconic Colva beach visited by thousands of visitors.

He slammed Venzy for entering Betalbatim village, his home village in Nuvem constituency, and for his failure to clean up the Colva creek and to make the roads leading to the Colva beach motorable.

He said the village panchayat would have addressed the issue of the  farmers had they approached the Panchayat body with their grievances. “It was just a question of arranging a couple of labourers to open the Handi (Creek) to drain out the sea water. But, the Benaulim MLA made a big show that he has got the Handi opened up with the help of workers”, he said.

Referring to Venzy’s statement that he would open an office in Nuvem if people invite him to the constituency to address the grievances of the people, Mickky said the Benaulim MLA should give his report card to the people of Benaulim constituency in the last three years and half.

“You go to Colva and don’t be surprised to find a potholed road leading to the beach. There’s still no solution to the Colva creek pollution. How can the MLA who has failed to do any development in his own constituency has plans to go in a neighbouring constituency”, Mickky questioned.

He also questioned the Benaulim MLA for his failure to take up the illegal fish market in Seraulim village. “This fish market has been functioning in Seraulim, but Venzy came in the picture only when a video on the sale of illegal and stale fish went viral”, he added.

To a question over his political future, Mickky shot back “besides me, even my wife will contest the coming Assembly elections”.
