The fourth accused in the Siolim firing case was arrested late Saturday evening, Anjuna Police informed.
The accused identified as Laxman Harijan @Vishwas, a resident of Pernem, was employed as a security guard at the Colvale jail through the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC).
“We picked up the accused after receiving information that he had joined duty at the Colvale jail late Saturday evening,” a police official privy to the investigation said.
Earlier, three persons were arrested in the shooting case. All three are in police custody. There were a total of five persons involved in the incident one of whom is still absconding.
“The Maruti Zen car with registration no GA-01-S-2608 used during the commission of crime has also been seized from the accused,” said Jivba Dalvi, Mapusa SDPO.
Meanwhile, accused James D’Souza has moved for bail which is likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday.
It may be recalled, a group of five men under the influence of alcohol picked up a quarrel with a restaurant owner in Siolim on Wednesday mid-night, assaulted him and fired a round from a pistol at his partner.
Anjuna Police traced and arrested three accused including a noted accused James D’Souza who fired from the pistol.
Mohammad Sahid Maniyar (29) and Suraj Anupkumar Singh (19) were the other two accused arrested by the police.
A local court had remanded the trio to five days of police custody which ends on Monday.
Mapuaa SDPO Jivba Dalvi is personally supervising the case.
