Francis, Elvis bonhomie keeps everyone guessing

Deputy Chief Minister, Francis D Souza must have given his Director of Municipal Administration, Elvis Gomes, a clean chit for his work as a good officer when he opted for voluntary retirement.

MARGAO

Elvis, who is a A class officer, had proceeded on leave, and has now resumed duty a day ago as Director of Municipal Administration. The duo were spotted at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Tuesday on the occasion of the launch of the 43 Tata Ace Hopper tippers, raising questions amongst scribes and Municipal chairpersons and councilors whether Gomes will reconsider this decision of quitting government service. When The Goan posed a question to the Urban Development Minister on whether there s any chance that his Municipal Director will reconsider his decision on his resignation, he said the question should be put to the A class officer. “I have not met Gomes for some time now. I really do not know what s on his mind,” D Souza said, as he proceeded for the launch of the hopper tippers. Sources close to the Director of Municipal Administration informed that Gomes is likely to move the courts to quash the FIR registered against him by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in the Goa Housing Board scam. The decision of Gomes to approach the court assumes significance given that there are apprehensions that the government may not relieve him from service when the corruption case is pending against him.
