French actress Isabelle Huppert was on Wednesday bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the opening ceremony of the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The 66-year-old French actress has appeared in over 120 films, and has been nominated for various film awards, including an Oscar award.
Huppert was selected for the award not only for the scope of her work over four decades, but for choosing to work in films that demand belief and courage, and for bringing to life some of the most extraordinary women on screen.
She accepted the award from Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Amit Khare.
Huppert commenced her short acceptance speech with the Indian greeting “Namaste” and went on to thank the government of India for the award.
Speaking in English, Huppert thanked film lovers for their love and wished a long life to IFFI.
