IFFI Golden Jubilee Icon award to Rajini

Indian film superstar Rajinikanth was on Wednesday bestowed the Icon of the Golden Jubilee of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) award.

The Padma Bhushan awardee Rajinikanth who has starred in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films was given the award by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, amidst a standing ovation, and the loudest cheers from the audience from amongst those who were felicitated at the ceremony.

Accepting the award, the 68-year-old Rajinikanth garnered even more cheers and wolf-whistles from the audience and his fans by calling Amitabh Bachchan his inspiration.

“I am extremely happy to receive this prestigious icon award. My heartfelt thanks to the Indian government for honouring me with the award,” Rajinikanth said.

The superstar also went on to dedicate the award to all the people he has worked with in the film industry. 

Rajinikanth also ended his short acceptance speech with a few words in Tamil.
