Demanding the BJP to fulfill the promises and assurance made to them by BJP, members of Republican Party of India (RPI), Goa desk, addressed media in Vasco on Tuesday evenings.
RPI National Secretary Balasaheb Bansode along with members Digambar Tendulkar, Umesh Ashsapurkar, Surya Salkar, Bhagwan Salkar and Shobha Bansode were a part of the press conference.
Speaking to the media, Bansode said that on April 14, on the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti, legislators Pandurang Madkaikar, Babu Ajgaonkar and Sudin Dhavalikar held a program in Panaji where it was announced that Ambedkar Bhavan would be built in Porvorim in six months but nothing was done about it.
“Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar had assured that one corporation would be given to a RPI’s Goa desk leader but when we recently met Tendulkar the situation looked different. RPI, an ally of NDA Government, will always be with the BJP, but the assurances made to us are not fulfilled,” he said.
Bansode also said that in the year 2007, CM Manohar Parrikar had assured to increase the reservation for the Schedule Caste from two per cent to five per cent which has not been fulfilled and demanded that the reservation be increased.
When questioned about Prakash Ambedkar (Grandson of Babasaheb Ambedkar) extending support to All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Bansode said that it was unfortunate that Ambedkar had extended support to AIMIM and further said that there was a huge difference of principles between Babasaheb Ambedkar and Prakash Ambedkar.
Bansode said that Prakash Ambedkar had never taken up nor resolved any single issue plaguing the Schedule Castes.
Bansode also said that RPI Leader and MP Ramdas Athavale will be arriving to the state at Cacoda on November 12 and there would be a grand public meeting subsequently attended by people supporting RPI in Goa.
