Decisions taken at the high-level meeting on the traffic plan for Margao seemed not to have kept the ground reality in mind at the old bus stand. Otherwise, how does one explain that the fast food carts, which are mandated to arrive at the old bus stand at 6 pm and close business by 11 pm, are all found parked on the bus stand despite a clear decision at the high-level meeting to instruct the owners to remove them?
Or, is it simply that the decision taken at the meeting has not been communicated to the fast food gadda traders by the Margao Municipality and the police?
In fact, a visit to the old bus stand on Friday revealed that most of the fast food gaddas were parked in the area, even though the high-level meeting had decided to have the owners take the carts to their place of residence after business hours.
Sources in the know further informed that Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, along with officials, inspected the bus stand on Friday, accompanied by Margao Municipal officials and senior police officers, ostensibly to implement the decisions adopted at the high-level meeting earlier this week.
During the visit, it was decided that Margao Municipal officials would communicate the decision to the fast food owners to tow their carts to their place of residence after 11 pm.
