Gaonkar fumes as agitators squat outside his residence

Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar on Thursday said he will never support his constituents if they take the law in their hands over mining-related issues.
It may be recalled that Curchorem Police on Wednesday arrested 56 agitators from Cuddegal for allegedly damaging five trucks engaged in transportation of e-auctioned ore from a mining company.
“If you want solutions from me, then come systematically,” Gaonkar told the workers of a mining company, who had sat in front of his residence at Farmagudi-Ponda on Thursday morning.
Surprised to see the workers sitting in front of his house and the huge police force there, Gaonkar scolded the workers for indulging in such unsystematic acts.
“If you had to phone me about your issues, then I would have come to Cuddegal-Dabal and heard your grievances. Sitting in front of my house and telling my family that you will not move from here till I come is not correct,” said Gaonkar to the agitators, on his return from Margao where he had gone for a meeting.
The workers had gone to Gaonkar's residence with their grievances with the mining company. They were demanding that the MLA should intervene to stop transportation of e-auctioned ore from this company.
Referring to the incident that took place in Cuddegal on Wednesday, Gaonkar asked them, “Who told you to stone the trucks?” The workers failed to reply.
“I am not with those involved in wrongful act of stoning trucks. If you want to resolve the issue, let us discuss it,” he said.
He assured the workers to speak to the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar regarding their grievances on Friday evening.
