The drainage channel, located beside the main road and adjoining paddy fields, serves as a natural outlet for accumulated rainwater. However, several garbage bags have reportedly been dumped into the drain, obstructing water flow and causing stagnation.
Residents fear the stagnant water could become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, increasing the risk of vector-borne diseases, while also leading to poor sanitation and other public health concerns if the waste is not removed promptly.
Adding to the concern is the presence of a health centre in the vicinity, with locals questioning the impact of the unhygienic conditions on patients and the surrounding community.
Residents have urged the local Panchayat and health authorities to take immediate corrective measures by clearing the dumped waste, restoring proper drainage, and preventing further illegal garbage dumping in the area.
