Paul Fernandes said there is too much fluctuations of power supply in the village, due to which electrical equipments get damaged.
Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar said in monsoon, branches of the trees fall on power lines, due to which the electricity supply gets cut off.
"The panchayat has sent a proposal to the electricity department to lay underground power cables to avoid frequent disruption in power supply. The electricity department has informed the panchayat that the Saligao power sub station will be upgraded shortly. On up-gradation of Saligao power sub station, it is expected that there would be improvement in power supply," said Govekar.
The villagers complained that the panchayat was not collecting garbage dumped by the roadsides.
Sarpanch Govekar said the residents are not supposed to dump garbage by the side of the road. "If anybody is seen dumping garbage, the villagers should immediately contact the police or the panchayat to enable them to take necessary action."
"The panchayat has given garbage bins to each household to keep garbage separately. The panchayat has made arrangement to collect garbage on door-to-door basis and with effect from August 1, the panchayat has decided to collect garbage from Wards 1, 2, 5, 8 and 9 on daily basis instead of alternate days."
"The contractor, who is lifting the garbage, has also been advised to collect garbage dumped by the roadsides during free time. It is also the responsibility of the residents to ensure that the village is kept clean," said Govekar.
When some villagers demanded that panchayat beautify of Savlem lake, the sarpanch said at the request of the panchayat, the tourism department has initiated action to undertake beautification of the lake. "However, some farmers approached the court claiming that the lake belongs to them and since the matter is now sub-judice, it is not possible to beautify the lake," informed Govekar.
The gram sabha also discussed the issues of cleaning of gutters, street lights, etc.
