The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has claimed the baseless insinuations and defamatory statements by Calangute Constituency Forum through its President Premanand Diukar against an expert member of the Authority are totally uncalled for and intended to intimidate authority members.
Taking serious note of statements by Diukar, GCZMA Member Secretary Dasharath Redkar stated that the site inspection at Vaddy-Candolim on April 27 was to ascertain compliance of the demolition orders issued by the Authority.
“The inspection was conducted by the Authority’s engineer and field surveyor in the presence of representatives of the complainants and respondent. Further process will be initiated in the matter based on the inspection report,” stated Redkar.
Redkar claimed that no expert member of the Authority was part of the inspection team on April 27.
“Hence, the baseless insinuations and defamatory statements made against an expert member of the Authority are totally uncalled for and intended to intimidate the Authority members.”
“Such irresponsible statements raise questions on whether environmental conservation is the true intent of the person in question and/or his organisation, or whether it is something else.”
Redkar stated that the GCZMA deals with all matters of CRZ violation in accordance with law and principles of natural justice.
Last week, the Calangute Constituency Forum had questioned the GCZMA’s decision to conduct a re-inspection of an illegal beach club in Candolim and alleged that the entire re-inspection of the club premises was without merit and appeared hollow.
“We suspect GCZMA authorities are not acting as per the law and some expert members are filing wrong reports favouring illegal activities within NDZ area giving a good space to the developer to carry out their illegal business,” Diukar had said.
