Speaking to reporters after his weekly public interaction, Sardesai said the GFP had refrained from expanding into other constituencies after a plea by Fr Alban during his birthday celebrations to exercise patience and avoid hasty political moves.
“Since my birthday celebrations, we have done nothing to disturb the Congress in any constituency, even though we have information that the Congress is reaching out to all 40 constituencies. They are on a path to disturb us, but we are not disturbing them,” he said.
He added that the party leadership would meet after month-end to analyse the political scenario and chalk out its strategy for the 2027 polls.
Sardesai said some political activists had expressed interest in joining the GFP, including Meshu, who is expected to join the party this weekend.
“We have not decided on tickets since the issue of political reservation for Scheduled Tribes is yet to be resolved,” he said, adding that those joining the party were doing so to strengthen regional forces and not with tickets in mind.
Reacting to State BJP president Damu Naik’s claim that the BJP would win 30 seats in the 2027 elections, Sardesai said the ruling party was trying to create a narrative despite growing public anger over its 15 years in power.
“The BJP leadership is deliberately making claims of winning 30 seats to create hype. But the people of Goa are not fools. They are waiting for the 2027 election to teach the BJP a lesson for its misrule,” he said.
Referring to allegations by activist Sudip Tamankar regarding transport officials posted at check-posts for years, Sardesai accused the government of institutionalising corruption.
“The government has institutionalised corruption in the state. There is no justice for the people of Goa,” he said.
