The Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC), in collaboration with the Commissioner for Labour and Employment and the Verna Industries Association, will organise a job fair on April 23 at the GIDC Hall in the Verna Industrial Estate from 10 am to 5 pm.

The organisers said 740 vacancies will be available at the fair across various sectors.

The openings range from ITI-level jobs to postgraduate roles in engineering, pharmacy, science, commerce, arts, and management.

Eligible Goan residents above 15 years must carry proof of residence, educational certificates, CVs, and photographs to take part.

The initiative comes at a time when unemployment has become a politically sensitive issue in the state. Recent Central government data showed Goa has the highest unemployment rate in the country, drawing criticism from Opposition parties and raising concerns among job seekers.

Officials said the fair aims to connect local talent with industry needs and create opportunities for young professionals and skilled workers.

The Verna Industrial Estate, one of Goa’s largest and most successful industrial hubs, is expected to see strong participation from companies looking for manpower.

With unemployment now a key political issue, the success of the job fair will be closely watched by government officials and could encourage the organisation of more such events in this election year.
