GKN rally reaches Camurlim, Loutolim

MARGAO
The Goyant Kollso Naka yatra wended its way through the villages of Camurlim and Loutolim on Saturday, with a large number of locals joining the rally in support of the demand to stop double-tracking, and coal transportation projects.

The yatra, which started from Camurlim village and later entered Loutolim as yatris wearing black-colour T-shirts made their presence felt in the interiors of the two villages.

The yatris pointed out that Goa will suffer irreparable damage in the coming years if doubl-tracking, coal transportation, transmission lines and other projects are not scrapped by the government.

“This rally is to make the people aware of the damage and destruction that would befall on the state and its people within the next 10 years,” a yatri told the media, while lamenting that though Goyant Kollso Naka had given representations to the government against the ill-conceived projects, there’s no response.

Camurlim panchayat member Ashwini Kumar Naik demanded that the government should immediately hold a meeting with the NGO as thousands of people are joining the GKN everyday.

While making a fervent plea to the people to think 10 times before they cast their vote in the elections, Naik said it was time for a change.
