GMC: 3 tonnes of beef supplied to traders daily

Seeking to allay the fears of beef consumers in the State, Goa Meat Complex (GMC) Managing Director Uday Pednekar said operations were normal and that, the complex was supplying around 3 tonnes of beef to traders on a daily basis.

“Services at the GMC are not interrupted and the supply is regular. There are about 15 traders in the State who bring in the cattle for slaughter,” Pednekar told The Goan.  
Asked about the quantity of beef supplied from the Goa Meat Complex, Pednekar replied: “Around 3 tonnes of beef is supplied to traders per day. This is a regular quantity supplied from the Goa Meat Complex,” he added.  
Concerns were raised after movement of cattle from Karnataka to Goa was affected following the central government’s notification.
