The Goa Forward party has urged the government to take immediate steps to fill all the 58 vacant posts of Deputy Superintendent of police in the Goa police department.
Saying that the supervisory structure of the Police Department is under considerable strain, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai said the Government must take immediate steps to fill these vacancies and expedite the promotion of genuinely eligible Police lnspectors who have been awaiting their rightful promotion.
“Due to the shortage of DySPs, Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been assigned the additional responsibilities of DySPs at multiple Iocations. This places an additional burden on senior officers and adversely affects the immediate supervisory mechanism, which can consequently hinder effective and prompt policing. The Government must therefore ensure that all eligible and deserving Police lnspectors are provided timely, fair and rule-based promotional opportunities, in accordance with the applicable service rules and procedures”, he said.
He has urged the government to expedite the pending promotion process of eligible Police inspector, ensure that promotions are made strictly in accordance with the applicable rules, seniority and eligibility; and strengthen the supervisory structure of the Police Department at all levels to ensure effective and prompt policing.
