PANAJI: Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju has summoned a three-day session of the Goa Legislative Assembly from August 31 to September 2, according to a bulletin issued by the Legislature Secretariat on Wednesday.
The 14th Session of the Eighth Goa Legislative Assembly will commence at 11.30 am on Monday, August 31, with sittings scheduled on August 31, September 1 and September 2.
The session is expected to be significant as it is likely to be the last sitting of the current Assembly if elections are held before the House completes its five-year term.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao criticised the government for convening only a three-day session, calling it a "ritual" that reduces democracy to a mere formality to clear government business.
Alemao alleged that limiting the Assembly to three sittings amounts to a curtailment of democracy and reflects the government's disregard for the pressing issues confronting the people of Goa.
