MARGAO
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday hailed Goa’s performance in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), saying it had the best SIR in the country. He praised the election machinery and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for maintaining accurate and inclusive electoral rolls.
Speaking at a regional conference on Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs), ECINET and BLOs at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Kumar said West Bengal’s record 93.7% voter turnout reflected growing public trust in
democracy.
Calling BLOs the backbone of the electoral system, he discussed voter registration, name and address corrections, and SIR-related challenges and best practices.
Over 1,000 BLOs attended the conference, which covered electoral literacy, voter registration, polling procedures and digital voter services. Technical sessions focused on polling stations, agents, mock polls, certificates and Form 17 Part II.
Ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, accurate rolls, voter enrolment, new-voter awareness and grassroots preparedness were highlighted as priorities.
