After the Spirit of Goa 2023, the Department of Tourism is set to launch another event in its bid to attract tourists to the coastal State during the summer months. A three-day long Goa Heritage Festival 2023 is scheduled from April 28-30 in Saligao village.“It will be full of art, culture and tradition converging. There will be a vibrant tapestry of Goa’s heritage at the upcoming event. The extravaganza also comprises an array of enchanting performances, culinary delights, exhibitions, and much more for all the visitors including locals,” a tourism official said.
The festival, which aims to promote cultural tourism and celebrate Goa’s artistic legacy, will also give the visitors an opportunity to indulge their taste buds with culinary delights reflecting the unique flavours of Goa.
“The visitors can experience the true essence of Goa with a Goan Games Gallery, Pottery Demonstration, Workshops on Goan Drama, Theatre, Special Talks by leading experts on related Topics, Screening of Marathi and Konkani Films, and Exhibition of Marathi-Konkani Books,” he added.
Renowned distiller Pedro Vaz will captivate the attendees at the festival with a demonstration on cashew feni manufacturing. Additionally, pottery demonstrations and workshops on Goan drama and theatre will provide insights into the State’s rich artistic traditions and history.
Special talks by renowned experts on relevant topics are also scheduled and film enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enjoy screenings of Marathi and Konkani films. Additionally, there will be an exhibition of Marathi-Konkani books.
In addition to the cultural festivities, a craft bazaar will be set up, providing a platform for local businesses to display and sell Goa’s diverse handicrafts, art, and traditional products.
“This presents a unique opportunity for visitors to take a piece of Goa’s heritage home with them, supporting local artisans and contributing to the preservation of traditional craftsmanship. Furthermore, organic food and clothing will be available, highlighting Goa’s commitment to sustainable practices and showcasing the region’s natural resources,” the tourism official said.
