The Crime Branch (CB) sleuths on Thursday questioned the twin sisters, who attempted to spread hate through derogatory religious comments on Instagram. Their mobile phones were also seized for investigation. The Investigation officer quizzed them for around two hours and was informed that their presence might be required during the investigation.
The accused sisters had meanwhile applied for anticipatory bail, fearing arrest. However, on Thursday their applications could not be heard in the District Court owing to the unavailability of the Judge. The matter has been adjourned to Friday.
The CB had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the two Instagram users, taking suo-motu cognisance of the matter. The insensitive remarks emerged in the late hours of April 18 soon after which it went viral and condemned by other social media users who called on the police to take action against them.
