BELAGAVI
Transporters from North Karnataka and Goa region have decided to call off the Rasta Roko at along the Belagavi-Goa border.
The Rasta Roko was to be held on March 8 as a mark of protest against the ban on the movement of multi-axle vehicles on the Anmod-Ramnagar stretch of the HN748 (NH4A), which is still under construction.
The decision was taken after holding a meeting with the Uttar Kannada Deputy Commissioner (district collector) Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, who had assured transporters of a solution on the ban.
A meeting of transporters and the collector which was to be held on Monday to find a solution to the transporters problem has postponed.
It may be recalled that multi-axle vehicle owners had warned of a Rasta-Roko at the Karnataka Goa border on March 8.
Meanwhile, the transporters who hope for a solution to their problems have agreed to the deputy commissioner’s assurance and said they are hoping for an early solution or else they would intensify the stir.
