Goa experienced light rainfall and thunderstorms throughout Thursday in most parts, following three nights of moderate to heavy rain that began on October 20. The daytime remained humid and sunny earlier in the week, but temperatures fell amid thunder, and the night saw heavy downpours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa reported a depression over the southeast Arabian Sea. A low-pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu and adjoining south interior Karnataka moved west-northwest and currently lies over south interior Karnataka and surrounding regions, triggering the current weather conditions.

According to the IMD, over the past 24 hours, very light to light rainfall occurred at most places in Goa, with moderate rainfall reported at isolated locations.

The State also recorded a maximum temperature of 33.0°C and a minimum temperature of 25.2°C, with humidity at 90 per cent, all of which were above normal. The next 48 hours are also expected to remain the same, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 32°C and 25°C, respectively.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert till October 26, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations, with moderate to heavy showers expected on Friday, followed by light to moderate rainfall on October 25-26.
