Union Minister of State for Home Affairs on Friday informed that Goa will soon get four ships for strengthening coastal security.
“We have already sanctioned four big boats of 12 tonnes costing Rs 4 crore each for Goa to ensure coastal security. This is in addition to the existing boats”, said Rijiju.
Stating that the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken steps to create a robust security system for coastal States, he said, “Goa is a very important coastal State. Earlier the coastal States were known as safe. But after the threat that we received from the sea, we have realised that we need to secure our high seas. So security along the coastal line has been strengthened by establishing police stations and creating a robust system to make it more secure.”
