A large number of GoaMiles taxi operators and drivers met with management officials of the app-based taxi service on Tuesday, to resolve various issues confronting them.
According to sources, the meeting was held in Verna and about 180-200 GoaMiles taxi operators and drivers as well as Director of GoaMiles Parashar Pai Khot were present at the meeting.
“The meeting was very peaceful and the drivers raised a number of grievances with Khot and requested him to resolve those pressing issues.”
“The GoaMiles operators demanded action by the government and police on touting by other taxi operators at Dabolim airport,” said the source.
GoaMiles drivers also complained that hijackers were harassing customers at the GoaMiles Counter 26 at Dabolim airport. Discussions were also held on fines charged along the Sancoale-Airport road.
“The other agenda put up for discussion was problems created by local goons at railway stations and the Mormugao Port Trust and the future plans on growing business with GoaMiles. The GoaMiles operators and drivers reassured the management that they have been happy with their daily earnings,” said the source.
