A compassionate Goan priest Fr Arnaldo Pinho, who is parish priest of Merces, on Thursday gifted 500 school bags to two remote villages in Daltonganj diocese.

During a visit to the remote villages of Chetma and Dauna, Fr Pinho witnessed the difficulties faced by the schoolchildren. In the rainy season, they are compelled to cross rivers on their way to school, and their school bags often get wet in the rain and river water. These villages have limited facilities, poor roads, and many families struggle with poverty.

Moved by the plight of the schoolchildren, Fr Pinho decided to provide school bags to every student studying in Chetma School and Dauna School. His generous gesture reflected his love, concern, and commitment to supporting the education of children in need.

On Thursday,

The Goan Bishop of Daltonganj Theodore Mascarenhas, who is well-known for his concern for poor and underprivileged children, distributed 260 school bags to students at Chetma School and 240 school bags students at Dauna School.

Bishop Mascarenhas makes regular visits to villages, to understand the needs of the people and to help connect them with generous benefactors.

The children of both schools were delighted to receive the bags and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Fr Arnold Pinho and Bishop Mascarenhas for their kindness, support, and care.
