Goan selected for Army award

PANAJI: Ex Sgt Menino Cota, secretary, Air Force Association, Goa branch has been awarded with the Chief of Army Staff Appreciation Award for his selfless service to the cause of ex-air veterans settled in Goa. The award will be presented on September 15, at New Delhi.

Ex Sgt Cota is also the recipient of the Goa government High Achievers Award-2007, which is given to an ex-serviceman who excels in civilian life.

Born on December 25, 1956, in Goa, Cota joined IAF in August 1975. Whilst in service he utilized his spare time to further his academic interest and successfully completed his MA (Political Science), LLB and MBA. He retired on August 31, 1989, and returned to his village Betalbhatim.

Currently he works in a private sector company and is the founder member of Air Force Association (Goa). He took the initiative in resolving the issues regarding pension, rehabilitation etc of ex-Air staff who have settled in Goa

Cops comply with HC order; register 10 FIRs

Fulfilling the High Court order, the Economic Offence Cell (EOC) of Goa Police has registered 10 separate FIRs with 926 complainants in the multi-crore Kamaxi Forex duping case.

KAMAXI SCAMPANAJI The Bombay High Court at Goa had on August 23 ordered the registration of 10 separate FIRs in the case including eight FIRs of the petitioners who approached the HC seeking a separate FIRs, one FIR in the name of the intervenor Selvino Gonsalves from Varca and one common FIR on behalf of the State wherein all the remaining complainants shall be listed as witnesses.Prior to this HC order, EOC had registered a single FIR on behalf of 30 primary complainants…
