The Bombay High Court at Goa had on August 23 ordered the registration of 10 separate FIRs in the case including eight FIRs of the petitioners who approached the HC seeking a separate FIRs, one FIR in the name of the intervenor Selvino Gonsalves from Varca and one common FIR on behalf of the State wherein all the remaining complainants shall be listed as witnesses.
Prior to this HC order, EOC had registered a single FIR on behalf of 30 primary complainants and those who approached the EOC later were included under this FIR.
However, with the list of complainants crossing the 900 mark, several complainants feared that their individual case might not receive adequate attention of the investigators.
Eight of these complainants petitioned the High Court and in response, Division bench of the Bombay High Court at Goa comprising of Justice F M Reis and Justice Nutan Sardessai had on July 27, directed the EOC to register individual FIRs in the case.
EOC had requested the modification of this order and relief was granted whereby the number of FIRs to be registered was reduced to 10 by the HC.
EOC on April 15 had registered an offence under criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy and cheating against the director of Kamaxi Forex, Raikar and his wife and mother.
Raikar was arrested after he surrendered in mid-April. His wife and mother, who were the sleeping partners in the company were also placed under arrest in the first week of May. All three have since been granted bail.
