BELAGAVI
Major Jeffrey Carvalho has been conferred with the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Commendation Card of the Eastern Command, in recognition of his distinguished service, exceptional leadership and professional excellence during his operational tenure in Manipur.
The honour, which was announced on the occasion of Independence Day, recognises Major Carvalho’s exemplary performance and commitment to duty while serving in the challenging operational environment of Manipur.
As part of the honour, Major Carvalho was presented with a Commendation Medal and an appreciation letter from Lt Gen Bhuwanan Krishnan, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command.
A parishioner of St Anthony Parish, Shivajinagar, Pune, Major Carvalho completed his schooling at Vidya Bhavan, Pune, and graduated from Fergusson College before joining the armed forces.
While based in Pune, Major Carvalho has maintained strong family and cultural roots in Goa. He is the son of John and Jacinta Carvalho and the nephew of Goa-based Jesuit priest and Konkani scholar Fr Pratap Naik SJ.
His family’s connection with Goa has added a special significance to the recognition among relatives, friends and the Goan community.
The distinction has been warmly welcomed by the local community and well-wishers, who congratulated Major Carvalho and his family on the prestigious military honour and wished him continued success in his service to the nation.
