The State government launched the much-talked of Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana on Monday while commemorating Goa Statehood Day and assured the entire population of Goa would be covered by August 15 this year.
The health insurance coverage that is aimed at covering all Goans excluding government employees will begin enrolling through 16 centers around the State next week. According to their plan, each family will be given an insurance card that can be used for 477 ailments from August 15.
“Insurance schemes around various parts of the State are very limited. Goa is the first State to have a scheme that covers everyone irrespective of financial status. All citizens of the State are eligible to get themselves enrolled and get the benefits of the scheme,” said Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
