Goa is a very peaceful and harmonious state, thus other parts of the country should look into various aspects of Goa and its generous approach towards diverse cultures and religions making the State the most peaceful and tolerant, expressed Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Monday. He was speaking at a function organized on the occasion of 35th Goa Statehood Day by the Department of Information & Publicity at Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula.
Pillai wholeheartedly appreciated the culture of unity and integrity that prevails among the political parties in Goa and the bond of oneness the political fraternity shares among themselves irrespective of their party and its ideology.
The Governor expressed his satisfaction with the development and progress achieved to date by the State government in the field of education, infrastructure, industries, health etc.
"Goa has immense potential in rural tourism wherein it can explore spiritual tourism, village tourism and health tourism which would generate employment and boost the economy of the State," he said.
"Goa has witnessed a long and tough journey to achieve laurels for the State in every sector. During the period of 35 years of Statehood, various governments have contributed towards the growth of the State," stated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in his address, and appreciated all the former chief ministers for their contribution to shaping the State towards growth and progress.
Sawant further stated that the government will further strengthen human resources and upgrade skill development to make Goa self-sustainable in its true sense.
Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik appreciated government efforts towards strengthening the State.
