As per the Letter of Confirmation issued by ISRO’s Capacity Building Programme Office (CBPO), the recognition will remain valid till June 2029 and will allow the PMU to conduct structured space education and awareness programmes for students and the wider community.
The recognition places Goa among institutions authorised to conduct ISRO-supported space education initiatives. Under the programme, students will get access to activities such as space awareness sessions, workshops, expert lectures, astronomy programmes, innovation challenges, student projects and demonstrations linked to satellite technology, remote sensing, Earth observation and rocketry.
Launched in 2021, the CARES Scheme has emerged as a technology-focused education initiative, reaching over 65,000 students annually across more than 440 government and government-aided schools while training over 660 teachers and Teach For Goa Fellows.
The scheme promotes experiential and project-based learning in areas including coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), drones, 3D printing and space science through platforms such as the GOVIN Education Browser Framework, PRERNA Educational Management System and RACHITI Analytics Platform.
The initiative also includes plans to establish ‘Whiz-Kid Learning Spaces’ across all 12 talukas of Goa. These centres are aimed at identifying and nurturing advanced learners in mathematics, science, coding, robotics, AI, computational thinking and emerging technologies.
The integration of ISRO-backed space education with these learning spaces is expected to create more opportunities for students to participate in specialised mentoring, competitions, innovation challenges and research-oriented learning programmes.
