Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Sunday was administered the first dose of Covishield (COVID-19) vaccine at Chicalim Sub District hospital.
Godinho speaking to the media said he wanted to set an example for the others on the importance of administering Covishield while the state is witnessing a rise in COVID-19 fresh cases.
"I have taken the Covishield vaccine to motivate others. Many people get scared while some are spreading rumours that the vaccine is not effective. If the vaccine was not good and effective, I would have not taken the dose today. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Pramod Sawant have received the vaccine, and I hope people don't fall prey to baseless rumours and start taking vaccines because there is no way out but to prevent the virus. This vaccine is very effective, made in India and the whole world is asking for this vaccine and we have to see that all Goans soon take a dose to remain safe," said Godinho.
