The government’s monthly financial aid under the Dayanand Samajik Suraksha Yojana (DSSY) which was held up for the last four months will now be credited into respective accounts of beneficiaries next month.
Disclosing this, Social Welfare Department Director Umesh Joshi said the monthly aid could not be credited into the accounts of beneficiaries due to the Covid pandemic. “The full amount of the four months -- June to September “ will be now be credited in November”, Joshi said.
Stating that the sanctioning process of the bills had been hampered due to the Covid pandemic, he said the Accounts Department has now started work and is expected to end this month.
“After the bills are sanctioned, the amount will be credited to the respective beneficiaries. The full process is likely to be completed by November”, informed Joshi.
The government gives a monthly financial aid of Rs 2,000 to senior citizens, widows, disabled people and those affected by HIV/AIDS under the DSSY scheme.
There are more than lakh beneficiaries of this scheme which is being implemented through the Social Welfare Department.
Senior citizens and other beneficiaries had faced great hardship as the funds were not credited by the government for the last four months.
