There’s been an improved performance at the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) screening examination for Junior Scale Officers (JSOs)
In the prescreening test for Junior Scale Officers (JSO) conducted recently by Goa Public Service Commission, 230 candidates have been declared successful out of around 2200 who answered the exam. These candidates will now have to answer the main CBRT (computer based recruitment test).
A total of around 3000 applications were received for 15 positions advertised for the JSOs and as in the last prescreening exam, this time too around 60 per cent of the successful candidates were engineers while the other 40 per cent belonged to the faculties of Humanities, Commerce, Science, medicine, dentistry, architecture, law and pharmacy.
At the earlier prescreening examination for JSO, similar number of candidates had attempted the examination and 101 were successful, showing a huge improvement in the performance of candidates at this exam.
The candidates who cleared the prescreening test will now have to answer the main CBRT followed by a written exam and interview thereafter. The syllabus for the main CBRT comprises Indian history, environment and ecology, governance, innovation, geography, logical reasoning and analytical ability and English and is a 75 mark examination of multiple choice type to be completed within 75 minutes.
There is no negative marking at these exams and every right answer is assigned one mark and a wrong answer zero marks. The result of this examination is declared the moment the examination ends and each candidate can see his/her score on the computer screen.
This is the fifth attempt the commission is undertaking to select candidates for the position of JSO and in the earlier attempts the commission could select 1, 2, 6 and 7 candidates at the first, second, third and fourth attempts respectively.
