PORVORIM

Describing photography an art of observation, Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte has said a good photograph is one which communicates the fact effectively and touches the heart.

Speaking at the Goa Photo and Video Exhibition organised by United Goans Photographers Association (UGPA) at Sant Gadge Maharaj Hall, Porvorim, Khaunte said a picture is worth a thousand words and emotions and experiences captured by photos are realised later in the life.

“Photography is an art of observation and a good photograph is one which effectively communicates facts and touches the heart,” said Khaunte.

“Photography is an art and the person who has a passion for photography can easily acquire proficiency,” said the minister, while adding that photographers are sometimes required to take risks to capture facts during natural calamities.

Khaunte advised the association to organise workshops for youth interested in taking up photography as a profession.

“This is an important part of the trade. A photographer should know the minute techniques of photography which can be taught only by the experienced photographers,” said Khaunte.

Earlier, UGPA President Oscar Chagas Silva welcomed the gathering.

On the occasion, photographers, Oscar Gomes, Pramod Hiroskar and Rosario Pereira, were felicitated by Khaunte with a shawl, shreephal and memento. A memento was also presented to the son of late Inacio Lopes, a photographer.

A brochure relating to the exhibition was also released by Khaunte on the occasion.
