Gov-designate arrives, to take oath today

Governor-designate of Goa, Satya Pal Malik arrived in the State and drove straight to the Cabo Raj Bhavan a day before he is expected to take the oath.  

Malik who was Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and was in the thick of action first when President’s Rule was declared in that troubled State prior to the 2019 general elections and then in July when the Narendra Modi government took the unprecedented step of abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution and downgrading Jammu and Kashmir to the status of an Union Territory.  

He was also the Governor of Bihar and was also given an  additional charge Governor of 

Odisha for a couple of months in 2018.  

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant called on Malik at the Cabo Raj Bhavan on Saturday.  

“Extended a warm welcome to the Governor-designate Shri Satya Pal Malik ji at Raj Bhavan, Goa. Congratulated him and conveyed my best wishes for a successful tenure,” Sawant said in a statement he posted on social media.  

Malik, meanwhile, is scheduled to be sworn-in by the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Pradeep Nandrajog at a ceremony to be held on Sunday evening at 4.30 pm.
