Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai has extended his warmest greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Gudi Padwa.
In his message, Pillai noted that Gudi Padwa, locally known as ‘Saunsar Padwa’ in Goa, marks the beginning of the traditional New Year and is celebrated with great enthusiasm.
He highlighted that Gudi Padwa symbolizes the dawn of divine consciousness and the arrival of spring. The celebration of this festival provides an opportunity to appreciate India’s unique culture and reminds us to live in harmony and solidarity, resolving differences in a mutually acceptable manner.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant joined the people of the State in celebrating Gudi Padwa, also known as ‘Padvo’. He wished everyone a joyous festival, emphasizing its significance as the start of the New Year in the Hindu calendar.
Dr Sawant highlighted that Gudi Padwa heralds the arrival of spring, symbolizing new beginnings and joy. He wished for peace, joy, and love to fill the hearts of all during this festive season.
On Gudi Padwa, people traditionally raise a ‘Gudi’ atop their homes as a symbol of welcoming prosperity. The Chief Minister described the festival as a joyful moment and an invitation to embark on new ventures.
Dr Sawant expressed hope for prosperity and peace in the new year, urging everyone to work together.
