Govt announces new ESI hospital at Mulgao

PANAJI

Revenue Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate, who also holds the labour portfolio, on Friday announced that a new 150-bedded super-speciality hospital will be built at Mulgao in Bicholim by the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) over the next two years.

Monserrate said, actual work on the hospital will begin in the next two months on land which has been provided by the Goa Housing Board.

The 150-bedded hospital at Mulgao, Bicholim will take approximately two years to be ready, Monserrate said, while speaking to the media after attending the ESI Corporation’s Regional Board meeting.

ESI will take on board a biomedical engineer to oversee the planning, procurement and installation of the medical equipment of the hospital project, he added.

Meanwhile in another unrelated decision, the ESIC regional board decided to shift the ESI’s out-patient-department (OPD) clinic at Verna to a location inside the industrial estate for ease the difficulties faced by beneficiary employees in physically accessing the facility.
