Saligao MLA Kedar Naik on Saturday said the State government has sanctioned Rs 14 crore to repair and hotmix all internal roads in Saligao constituency, adding that the work order to the contractor has also been issued.

“As soon as the monsoon gets over, the repairing and hotmixing of internal roads will begin,” said Naik, while addressing a function organised by Pilerne-Marra Panchayat to distribute approved letters to the beneficiaries who have availed financial assistance under ‘Atal Asra Yojana’ and Senior Citizen’s cards.

The ZP members Sandeep Bandodkar, Pilerne Dy Sarpanch Amarnath Panjikar and other panch members were present on this occasion.

Commenting on the water scarcity issue, Naik was confident the problem would be resolved soon. “Construction of a water treatment plant at Pilerne and laying of water pipeline have begun. Since the roads at Reis Magos are narrow, there has been a delay in laying the pipes. The entire work will be completed in six months,” said the MLA.

He admitted there had been erratic power supply on account of trees falling on overhead wires. “This problem will be solved once the work to lay underground cabling is completed. The entire work of hotmixing internal roads, work of water treatment plant and laying of underground cabling will be completed within one year,” said Naik.

Pilerne“Marra Deputy Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar explained about Atal Asra Yojana and the benefits of the Senior Citizens cards.

He said there are several government schemes for the benefit to poor villagers and appealed to needy villagers to avail of these schemes.
