Speaking to The Goan, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar stated, “The shack policy will receive in-circulation cabinet approval on Monday. The government will attempt to complete the process of allotment of shack licenses by the end of October in order to cater to the tourists expected to arrive this season.”
Once the policy receives a cabinet approval, the next stage will involve online advertisement inviting applications from shack owners. The government will also have to demarcate sites and chalk out how many shacks can be located along the coastline.
Formal decisions pertaining to these intricacies are likely to be taken over the next seven days.
