Govt questioned on availability of affordable fish

MARGAO

After Union Fisheries Minister Parshottam Rupala and State Fisheries Minister Nilkant Halarnkar laughed at a query whether the government has any plan to make fish affordable to the common man prices of fish are soaring, locals have demanded to know if the government has any plan ofaction.

Joining the chorus, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai said that this is no laughing matter as fish is now beyond the reach of the common man.

After the Union Fisheries Minister wondered whether the government should start distribution of fish via the ration cards to make it available for the fish loving Goans, Sardesai on Sunday said the contemptuous and apathetic attitude towards the basic needs of common Goemkars continues.

He said, “Fish is the staple here, not dal roti, and with such insensitive policies, Goans are being denied a diet they are used to, and deeply love”.
