Govt to construct new pedestrian bridge over St Inez creek

Now pedestrians and also cyclists can enter the city through Mandovi River promenade as the government is constructing a pedestrian cum cycling arch bridge to connect Mandovi River promenade and D B Road over St Inez creek near ESG Building at Panaji.

A Rs 4.34 crore worth pedestrian arch bridge will be constructed to connect Mandovi River promenade and DB Road over St Inez creek near ESG building at Panaji. Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation has issued a tender for the bridge on Saturday.

The Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has financed this project and GSIDC is implementing the same.

IPSCDL has already started work for developing a 2.6 km cycling track along Mandovi river from Youth Hostel Miramar to Mahavir Garden. Now the cyclists through this bridge can easily access this cycling track which will be used for recreational activities. The cyclist can get a panoramic view of the Mandovi river through this cycling track.

The GSIDC officials informed the arch bridge will be of 34 metres and 8 mtrs width. It will have a 2.5 metres cycling track and 4 metres walking footpath.

The bridge which will stand on a pile foundation will be made of steel with a metalisation process so that it will be corrosion resistant.
