The State cabinet on Wednesday gave a go ahead to provide internet facilities to all schools in the State.

The cabinet also decided to provide paid maternity leave to all government contract staff on contract basis and to hike the salaries of the jail staff.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed that the cabinet has cleared the “maji lab, bari lab” scheme which will provide internet to all schools.

“The government will provide internet facilities to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories in all schools across the State,” Sawant said.

In huge relief to women government staff on contract, the cabinet has approved a decision to provide maternity leave to the contract workers with the government.

In another decision, the government also decided to hike the salaries of the jail staff and bring it on par with the salaries of the Goa Police staff.

The State cabinet also approved to summon the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly from July 18 onwards.

Last week, the State Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar had said that the monsoon session of the assembly will be of 15 to 20 days, and will give enough time to the Opposition to raise issues.

The CM informed that the cabinet decided to handover the operation of the Sanquelim bus-stand to the Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTCL).

The cabinet has also cleared five posts of medical officers at the Colvale Central jail and 26 LDC posts.
