The Colva gram sabha has decided to install a statue of former Opposition Leader and Father of Opinion Poll Dr Jack de Sequeira at the four-road junction, Colva.
The gram sabha meeting chaired by Sarpanch Suzie Fernandes also discussed the beautification of the four-road junction road to the Colva beach square.
The issue of installing the statue of Jack de Sequeira was raised by a gram sabha member, who called for honouring the former Opposition leader with a befitting statue considering his contribution to retain the identity of Goa.
Colva sarpanch Suzie Fernandes later told the media that the proposal to install the statue of Jack de Sequeira has been passed at the gram sabha, adding that the proposal will now be placed before the Panchayat body meeting for a decision.
“After the matter is discussed at the body meeting, the Panchayat would write to the concerned departments to take the issue forward”, she said.
She said the Panchayat would also take up the beautification of the Colva road.
