MARGAO: The Konkani Bhasha Mandal (KBM) and Akhil Bhartiya Konkani Parishad (AIKP) have urged all MLAs not to support any Bill demanding the use of Roman script for Konkani in education. They warned of a statewide agitation if the government pushes such a move.
KBM president Ratnamala Divkar and AIKP working president Chetan Acharya reminded MLAs that Konkani in Devanagari script has been taught since the 1970s.
They said splitting children by script will divide them. Both groups welcomed the government’s decision to celebrate Opinion Poll Day.
