GU asst professor placed in world's top 5% scientists Dr Pranay P. Morajkar, Senior Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Goa University, during a presentation at the Indo-German Science & Technology Stakeholders meeting at Goa.

Dr Pranay Morajkar, senior assistant professor of physical chemistry at the School of Chemical Sciences at Goa University, has been recognised among the World's Top 5% Scientists in the 2025 SciRank Global Registry, following an independent global bibliometric analysis of scientific productivity and research impact.

According to the SciRank Global 2025 Scientist Index, Dr Morajkar is among the top 5% of active researchers worldwide, with a global rank of 1,297,993, in recognition of his research contributions and academic impact.

Dr Morajkar recently completed an advanced research tenure at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig, Germany.

The achievement highlights his contributions to international scientific research in the field of nano catalysis for clean energy and sustainable environment and brings pride to Goa University, and the academic community of Goa.

Born in Taleigao and raised in Assonora, completed his schooling at the Government Primary School and St Clara’s High School, Assonora. He pursued his Higher Secondary education at D.M.’s College, Mapusa, and earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim.

He secured the Goa State Rank in B.Sc. Chemistry (2007) and M.Sc. Physical Chemistry (2009) at Goa University. He was awarded a prestigious Doctoral Research Fellowship by the French Ministry of Research and obtained his PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry from the University of Lille and the University of Bordeaux, France.

He subsequently served as a CNRS Postdoctoral Researcher at ENSIC-LRGP, Nancy (France), Research Scientist at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Visiting Research Scientist at PTB Braunschweig, Germany.

Since 2014, Dr Morajkar has been serving as Senior Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry at the School of Chemical Sciences, Goa University. He established the Laboratory of Nanostructured Materials for Energy and Environment at Goa University and has secured research funding from national agencies such as DST-SERB, UGC-BSR, DST-INNO-INDIGO, IGSTC, DST & WM (Government of Goa), and GSRF.

Dr Morajkar’s academic portfolio includes over 50 international publications in high-impact journals, six book chapters, one edited book, and multiple funded research projects supported by leading Indian agencies including DST, SERB, UGC, INNO-INDIGO Indo-European Research Grant, DST&WM, and GSRF Government of Goa.

He also holds two Indian patents in catalyst design, underscoring his commitment to innovation and translational research.

Dr Morajkar’s inclusion in the World's Top 5% Scientists in the 2025 SciRank Global Registry, further positions Goa University and the State as emerging hubs for advanced scientific research and innovation on the global stage.
