The ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) delegation of Goa University including Prof Purva Hegde-Desai, Dr Arvind Haldankar and assistant Prof Chinmay Madhu Ghaisas recently visited the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) and held discussions on various aspects of cooperation under EBSBj project.
There were cultural presentations by the students and faculty of performing arts department of CUJ.
The contingent visited the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the tribal leader of Jharkhand, at Ulihatu, a part of Chhota Nagpur plateau and met the kins of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at his memorial and also toured the village to witness the tribal life and culture, especially on Mundari language and traditions. The GU team paid a visit to the Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga at Deoghar as well as the Vasukinag temple at Basukinath.
The GU members made presentations “ Prof Chinmay Ghaisas spoke on ‘Goa: Language, Literature, Art, Culture and Music’, while Prof Purva Hegde-Desai focussed on the topic ‘Business Scape in Goa’ and Dr Arvind Haldankar threw light on ‘Indigenous Communities and Culture in Goa.
The valedictory function was held in the presence of Prof K B Das, vice-chancellor of CUJ and Dr Rajesh Kumar, EBSB coordinator.
