Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao have extended their greetings to the people of Goa, especially the Muslim community, on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr.The Chief Minister in his message said, "This festival with its tradition of giving and sharing enriches our lives with a spirit of brotherhood and empathy for the deprived. Let us embrace each other and manifest our bonds of friendship and fraternity in a true spirit of humanism. I appeal to all my fellow citizens to join hands with us towards promoting the cherished goals of peace, happiness, brotherhood and prosperity in our multi cultural Goa."
In her message, the Governor said, “Id-ul-Fitr is a festival which comes back every year to remind us of humanity, charity and to keep the spirit of sharing and helping the destitute. In cognizance of the preachings of Prophet Mohammad, I hope that each one of us will ponder over the significance of this occasion and in like spirit be prepared to sacrifice in the interest of mankind”.
In his message, the Archbishop stated,Called to follow the divine call in our lives, let us all, Muslims, Christians and followers of other faiths, join our hands to exercise mercy and compassion towards others, especially the countless victims of conflicts, human trafficking and violence, particularly the elderly the women and the children."
