Half-day on Jan 22: Passport office asks applicants to reschedule appointments

With central government offices set to observe a half-day holiday in view of the ‘Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony on January 22, the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Panaji has requested applicants to reschedule their booked appointments.

“The RPO will also observe a half-day in light of the Department of Personnel & Training order. We have thus requested applicants whose appointments were fixed prior to 2.30 pm on January 22, to reschedule it to another available day,” an official said.

As per the DoPT order, all the central government offices, central institutions and central industrial establishments will be closed till 2.30pm.

“The Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya will be celebrated on January 22, 2024 across India. To enable employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that all central institutions and central industrial establishments throughout India will be closed for half a day till 14:30 hours on January 22, 2024,” reads the order by Deputy Secretary (GoI) Praveen Jargar.

The Goa government has meanwhile already announced a one-day public holiday.
