The haphazard work undertaken for road digging has resulted in waterlogging along a stretch of the main road near the Neura panchayat.
And, on Friday evening, a spell of heavy rains exposed the haphazard work as waterlogging was witnessed at the entrances of several residential houses.
Several locals informed The Goan that the digging work was undertaken for laying underground power cables.
“However, the debris was dumped in the drains and some cross drains were also blocked while undertaking the digging work which has resulted in waterlogging in front of our entrance,” one of the locals informed.
Another local informed that since their houses are located on the main road, when vehicles pass by they splash the water right into their homes.
“We have never witnessed such waterlogging here and it is due to the haphazard work done while undertaking digging for laying underground power cables,” the local added.
Meanwhile, a portion of a road near the Indian Overseas Bank at Corlim also witnessed waterlogging with people being forced to walk through the muddy water to reach their destination.
Also, the main road, opposite Deccan Fine Chemicals was submerged in the heavy downpour. Local informed that this is a yearly occurrence due to the absence of a drain.
